It was a game where the fragility of the Chicago Blackhawks would surely be tested. After addressing the fact that the team may not be doing a good enough job recovering from mistakes and picking each other up, the Blackhawks had a response to a terrible start, coming away winners on a night when they had no excuse not to come away with two points.

In a 4-3 win, the Blackhawks topped the Columbus Blue Jackets in a game where it was Chicago’s opponent blowing a multi-goal lead for once. Columbus jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the opening 3:13 minutes of the first period. Blackhawks head coach Jeremy Colliton used his timeout to regroup the Blackhawks and whatever he said, it worked. Chicago stormed back to score four unanswered goals through the rest of the game and had a 28-12 shots on goal lead through 40 minutes of play.
Chicago came into the game having scored just one powerplay goal on 20 opportunities over their last seven games. They opened the scoring with an Alex DeBrincat goal on the man-advantage to stop the bleeding at that point. Carl Söderberg got back into the lineup and tallied the game-tying goal late in the first period, making the most of his opportunity to get back into the lineup with the Blackhawks sitting Mattias Janmark.
Wyatt Kalynuk would score his first goal of his NHL career, becoming the sixth player to score their first career NHL goal with Chicago this season, and Dylan Strome put the finishing touches on the Blackhawks’ offensive comeback with a beautiful play on the powerplay where Adam Boqvist, Kirby Dach, DeBrincat, and Strome all touched the puck.

*Chef kiss* Perfect.
With the win, the Blackhawks move to 19-18-5 on the season with 43 points in the standings. The Dallas Stars won earlier today against the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning led the Nashville Predators heading into the third period at the conclusion of the Blackhawks game. If that result holds, Chicago climbs back to just two points behind the Predators for fourth-place in the Central Division.
