The Chicago Blackhawks recalled defensemen Ian Mitchell and Nicolas Beaudin, along with goaltender Matt Tomkins from the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday. The moves involving Mitchell and Beaudin come in response to the injuries to Calvin de Haan and Adam Boqvist suffered in the latest series against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Boqvist took a puck to the face in the first period of Monday night’s contest and missed the remainder of the game. After the game, head coach Jeremy Colliton said he was experiencing concussion symptoms. Calvin de Haan left the game against the Blue Jackets on Saturday with a hip pointer injury, but returned to play on Monday. He skated in 16:32 minutes, but was playing through the injury. Colliton also mentioned following Monday’s game that the team “gutted” through a lot in the 4-3 overtime win.
Mitchell and Beaudin have been getting decent ice-time while with the Rockford IceHogs this season when they have been with the AHL squad and could find themselves in the lineup as the Blackhawks prepare to face the Detroit Red Wings for the final series of the season later this week. Beaudin has two goals and 10 points in nine AHL games this season, while Mitchell has one assist in five games. In the NHL this season, Mitchell has four points in 32 games with Chicago, while Beaudin has five points in 14 games played.
