It’s been a long season, albeit abbreviated, for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The ups and downs of the year have led to a playoff race with 11 games remaining. The season has probably felt even longer for forward Alex Nylander, who has been out for the year after undergoing knee surgery back in December. Nylander was given a four-to-six month timetable for recovery from the surgery and his four-month mark is coming up later this week.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Nylander was back on the ice for the first time.

After having Kirby Dach return to the Blackhawks after having surgery on his broken wrist, it’s optimistic, and my own speculation, to think that Nylander may be available to the Blackhawks if they make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which would begin in just under a month.
Nylander is a restricted free agent this summer and I’m sure would love the opportunity to get back into game action before the season ends for Chicago. Whether that happens or not, it’s still great to see the younger winger back skating.
