What a roller-coaster of a game. Down 4-1 early in the third period, the Chicago Blackhawks score four unanswered goals to win 5-4 in overtime over the Nashville Predators.
The Chicago Blackhawks put in one of the biggest comeback efforts the league has seen this season against the Nashville Predators in one of the biggest and most anxiety-rattling games of the year. The five goals scored by Chicago are the most they have scored this season against Nashville, the first time they had scored more than three against the Predators this year, and just the third time since the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoff first round series (23 games) that the Blackhawks have topped the three-goal mark.

It was a night where you thought you were seeing the same old script that the Blackhawks and Predators have written this season, but the Blackhawks fought back when their season was all but dead and in the ground. Three goals in under three minutes in the third period sent the game to overtime. That’s where Brandon Freakin’ Hagel found the game-winner on his stick.

Malcolm Subban made 36 saves on 40 shots faced, Hagel had a three-point night and three other Blackhawks had multi-point efforts in the win. Chicago picks up their first win of the season against the Predators, moving their record to 1-4-2 facing Nashville this season and 22-20-5 on the year. The Predators still gain a point in the standings, so they will be three points ahead of the Blackhawks in the Central Division playoff chase, but the Blackhawks cut their deficit to the Dallas Stars to just one point with nine games remaining this season.
