IceHogs Team Awards: Dylan McLaughlin Named “Most Improved”

Chicago Blackhawks

With the AHL season over, the Rockford IceHogs are rolling out their 2021 Team Awards this week. Starting with the Most Improved player award, the nominees this season were MacKenzie Entwistle, Dylan McLaughlin, and D.J. Busdeker.

And your winner is….

Dylan McLaughlin!

A second-year pro, McLaughlin led the IceHogs in scoring this season with 22 points in 28 games, and was tied to the team-lead in goals with eight. In 28 AHL games last season, McLaughlin finished with just two goals and seven points. He was also one of five players on the IceHogs this season to play more than ten games and finish with two or fewer penalty minutes.

A former Hobey Baker Finalist in 2018 with Canisius College, McLaughlin has 31 points in 63 career AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs and 24 points in 20 ECHL games with the Indy Fuel since signing a two-year AHL contract with the IceHogs in March of 2019.
