IIHF World Championships Bronze Medal: USA defeats Reichel, Germany in 6-1 route
It was really never in doubt.
Team USA topped Germany in the IIHF World Championships Bronze Medal game with a 6-1 drubbing to seal their ninth Bronze Medal in World Championships history and fourth in the last eight tournaments. The United State was powered by multi-point efforts by Christian Wolanin, Jason Robertson, Tage Thompson, and Conor Garland.

With the win, Blackhawks 2020 second-round pick Drew Commesso wins a medal with Team USA as the third goalie on the roster, after replacing Alex Stolarz in the Group Stage. Former Blackhawks defenseman Adam Clendening and former prospect Ryan Shea also take home Bronze with Team USA.

In the loss, fellow Blackhawks 2020 draft pick Lukas Reichel and the Germans fall short of earning the country’sz first IIHF World Championships medal since 1953, when West Germany took home the Silver Medal. Reichel, playing in his first ever World Championships, tallied two goals and six points in nine games at the tournament. The 19-year-old first round pick is expected to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks this offseason now that the tournament is finished.
