The Chicago Blackhawks nearly blew another multi-goal lead against the Red Wings in the preseason on Monday night, but unlike the first meeting between the teams, Chicago was able to recover and finish a comeback win over Detroit. One of the major players in Monday night’s win was MacKenzie Entwistle, notching two goals in the 6-4 win.
The former third-round NHL Draft pick by the Arizona Coyotes has three goals and an assist in three preseason games for the Blackhawks so far, tallying at least one point in each game. His first goal of the night on Monday put the Blackhawks up 4-1 in the second period.

Entwistle’s second goal of the game broke a 4-4 tie mid-way through the third period and ended up serving as the game-winning goal for Chicago.

After tallying 11 goals and 26 points in 56 AHL games as a rookie in the 2019-20 season, Entwistle split time between the Blackhawks and IceHogs last season, making his NHL debut and recording his first NHL goal and assist in the process. He also recorded four goals and 12 points in 22 AHL games with the IceHogs last season.
Entwistle was coming into this training camp as a forward on the bubble of making the NHL roster, but having an uphill battle at the start of camp against guys like Brett Connolly, Dylan Strome, Alex Nylander, Jujhar Khaira, and Henrik Borgström to name just a few battling for limited spots. Entwistle likely had one foot in the door already for the Rockford IceHogs at the start of camp, but after his three performances with the Blackhawks so far this preseason, it might be safe to say he has sky-rocketed his stock higher than most of those “on the bubble” forwards.
Colliton on Entwistle: "He keeps getting better and better. We keep giving him opportunity because he looks like he's ready to compete for a roster spot… Nice to see him chip in offensively, but that's a byproduct of the things he does away from the puck."

At the very least, Entwistle is making Mom and Dad proud!
YES, GOAL!!! Keep working hard @5twisty5 @NHLBlackhawks #ProudMomma. ❤️🏒🥅 https://t.co/iqPxhgpIz7

There are two more preseason games left for the Blackhawks and just one week until the NHL regular season begins. With 46 players still in camp, the Blackhawks will have to cut their training camp roster in half rather quickly. Don’t be surprised if Entwistle is with the team until the final moments of training camp, and maybe after it is over as well.
