After dispatching of the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night in the final preseason game before the opening on the 2021-22 regular season, the Chicago Blackhawks made four roster cuts to get down to 28 players in camp. Rosters must be finalized for the opening of the regular season on Monday.

Mike Hardman, Reese Johnson, Nicolas Beaudin, and Jakub Galvas have been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs after their time with the Blackhawks in training camp. All four proved to be in the mix for depth roles with Chicago, with Galvas breaking out in camp as a standout rookie. It’s probable that, with injuries to Wyatt Kalynuk and Caleb Jones to begin the season, Galvas could be one of the first players called-up to the Blackhawks early in the season.
The Blackhawks now have 28 players in training camp, but must get down to a maximum of 23 players on their NHL roster by Monday night. Chicago has a scheduled off-day tomorrow and a practice on Monday before the NHL opens the regular season officially on Tuesday. The Blackhawks begin their 2021-22 regular season on Wednesday as they travel to take on the Colorado Avalanche.
