No one has covered the alleged sexual abuse scandal of Brad Aldrich during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs as extensively as TSN’s Rick Westhead. He deserves a lot of credit for the time, work, and courage he’s put in to tackle this story. But he’s not done yet.
Tonight at 5pm CT, Westhead will help “John Doe,” the heretofore anonymous former Blackhawks prospect who sued the Blackhawks for their negligence in handling his reporting of this incident, reveal his identity and tell his story first-hand on TSN’s Sports Centre.
Tonight on @SportsCentre we're joined by John Doe, the former Blackhawks player at the centre of the team's sexual abuse scandal.
He has asked us to reveal his identity and you will hear him speak his truth. It's a privilege to offer a platform to someone with such courage.— Rick Westhead (@rwesthead) October 27, 2021
The independent investigation into the Blackhawks’ handling of the reporting and the incident itself came to an end this week. Block & Jenner, LLP., the firm conducting the investigation, turned the findings over to the Blackhawks Monday. You can catch up on all the findings and fallout from the investigation here. And read more about Joel Quenneville’s involvement right here.
Tonight’s episode of Sports Centre will air at 5:00 pm CT, and you can also monitor Rick Westhead’s Twitter account for the latest updates.
UPDATE: Former Blackhawks prospect Kyle Beach spoke publicly here.
