The Blackhawks have made a roster move this afternoon, recalling defenseman Isaak Phillips. And in a corresponding move, Ian Mitchell was assigned to Rockford.
Phillips, 20, has tallied a pair of assists in four games this season with Rockford. The 20-year-old defenseman leads all IceHogs defensemen in points and assists this season.

If Phillips makes his way into the lineup this weekend when the Blackhawks play back-to-back games on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes and the St. Louis Blue, that would be Phillips’ NHL debut.
Ian Mitchell, who was recalled on Sunday afternoon before the Blackhawks’ 6-3 loss to the Red Wings, will head back to Rockford for the second time this season. Despite cracking the lineup in both games this week that Mitchell was here for, his ice time has been limited. Mitchell played just 8:09 in last night’s loss to Toronto and 9:15 in the loss to Detroit on Sunday. Mitchell recorded an assist on opening night against Colorado but has been silent in the scorebook in the four games he’s been with the Blackhawks since then.
