With Antti Raanta in net for the first time this season in place of Fredrick Andersen I really thought that the Chicago Blackhawks might have a shot at a road upset against Carolina if the defense could play a strong game. Not an incredible game, but just good enough to hold the Canes to 3-4 goals, because between Raanta looking a tad bit slow early, and the offense looking like it was moving the puck around well early, I thought the Blackhawks might win a high-scoring game in Raleigh.
Of course, I was wrong. But not before Brandon Hagel and Adam Gaudette got my hopes up in the first period with two nice goals. Hagel stuffed it home off a Jonathan Toews pass to open the scoring, and then provided Adam Gaudette with a solid screen on the second goal of the period. Hagel continues to look strong for the Blackhawks this season.

Then the wheels came off for Chicago, a familiar sight for them this season. Minutes later, the Canes scored twice in 17 seconds to take a 3-2 lead, and they would never look back.
And suddenly it's 3-2 Canes https://t.co/UXGgq7FOXY

The Blackhawks just seem to fall apart whenever they’re playing from behind, and that can’t continue to happen. The Blackhawks fall to 0-6-2, while the Hurricanes move to a perfect 7-0-0.
