Following yesterday’s overtime win, Blackhawks interim head coach Derek King said the goal for Gaudette is to get him playing games, whether it was in the AHL with Rockford or with another team if he was claimed.
Gaudette was acquired at the trade deadline last season from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Matthew Highmore. After winning the Hobey Baker Award as the top college Men’s Hockey player in 2018, Gaudette skated in 153 games with Vancouver, tallying 21 goals and 52 points. After coming to Chicago late last season, Gaudette recorded a goal and four points in seven games. After re-signing with the Blackhawks on a one-year deal this offseason, Gaudette hadn’t found a permanent home in Chicago’s lineup and last played on November 9.
He now joins a Senators club that is 4-13-1 this season, last in the NHL.
