This doesn’t look good.
In tonight’s Rockford IceHogs game against the Milwaukee Admirals, Blackhawks 2020 first-round pick Lukas Reichel took a nasty hit into the boards and left the game. There is currently no update on his condition.
Here is the video of the hit:
Lukas Reichel needed help off the ice from Ian Mitchell and the athletic trainer. He went straight to the locker room. I hope he’s ok. I’ll provide updates when I know. #Blackhawks #HockeyTwitter #HawksProspects #IceHogs #EBB pic.twitter.com/Dj9Zdh9bE4

As you can see in the second clip, Reichel had to be helped off the ice and looks in bad shape as he skates off with the help of the team trainer and teammate Ian Mitchell. Not going to play arm-chair doctor, but going face and chest-first into the boards isn’t usually going to end well.
Reichel has been one of the best IceHogs players this season, tallying seven goals and 12 points in 15 AHL games this season.
We’ll keep up with his injury status as more information is released.
