The Chicago Blackhawks have made a roster move this evening, sending forward Philipp Kurashev to the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs and recalling forward Josiah Slavin.

Kurashev has skated in 19 games for the Blackhawks this season, tallying five assists and no goals (call it a sophomore slump after a rookie year with eight goals and 16 points in 54 games).
He followed last season with an appearance for Switzerland at the World Championships, skating in eight games in the tournament and recording a goal and five points. Kurashev previously played 39 games for the IceHogs over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, recording 19 points in 36 games during the 2019-20 season as an AHL rookie.
Slavin is making his first trip up to the NHL in his first full rookie season. He has skated in 15 games this season with the IceHogs, recording four goals and eight points. Slavin made his professional debut last season with the IceHogs, also skating in 15 games and recording seven points in the process. A former seventh-round pick by the Blackhawks in 2018, Slavin played two seasons at Colorado College prior to making his professional debut last season, skating in 56 NCAA games with 26 points.
The Blackhawks are off until Thursday night, traveling to take on the Washington Capitals. Rockford is in action again on Wednesday night, traveling to take on the Milwaukee Admirals.
