This was arguably the biggest night for the Blackhawks since Derek King took over as interim head coach.
Chicago goes into Montreal to face a Canadiens team that they have dominated in recent years (12-2-2 heading into tonight) and put together a good enough effort to earn a much-needed regulation win and help get Marc-André Fleury his 500th career NHL win, in shutout fashion, in his home province of Quebec.
It doesn’t get much better than that.

The shutout win was helped made possible thanks to Captain Jonathan Toews getting his first goal since March 5, 2020, snapping a 25-game drought to being this season.
The biggest goal of the season so far!

A memorable night had all around for the Blackhawks. Fleury earns his eighth win of the season, seventh in his last ten starts, and joins fellow Québécois goaltenders Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur as the only goalies to reach the 500-win mark in their careers. He is also the fastest to reach 500, doing it in 901 games. Behind Fleury’s 30-save shutout, the Blackhawks earn their tenth win of the season and move their overall record to 10-14-2, 9-5-0 under Derek King since November 7.

Also, getting on the board tonight with the insurance goal was new top-line centerman Henrik Borgström. With his second goal of the season, Borgström ended a ten-game goal-drought of his own.
