With COVID issues in Chicago and Rockford this season, and the reimplementation of the NHL Taxi Squad, the Rockford IceHogs find themselves short on players. That is why they announced today that forward Brandon Pirri has signed a PTO deal to rejoin the team. He is expected to be in the lineup for Rockford tonight against the Chicago Wolves.

Pirri was with the organization last season, playing in just one game for the Blackhawks and seven for the IceHogs in the AHL. Pirri recorded eight goals and two assist with Rockford last year and is the team’s all-time leader in assists (134) and points (210). He is a four-time AHL All-Star and has 339 points in 369 career AHL games.
Pirri has been a free agent all season and last played with Team Canada at the 2021 World Championships, recording three goals on the way to winning a Gold Medal alongside teammates Brandon Hagel and Nicolas Beaudin. Rockford hosts the Chicago Wolves tonight at the BMO Harris Bank Center for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop. It is the first IceHogs game of the new year after having their last four postponed.
