NHL All-Star weekend is upon us. The Chicago Blackhawks, currently a train wreck, will have Alex DeBrincat in Las Vegas representing the team for the Central Division This is DeBrincat’s first of hopefully many All-Star appearances as a member of the Blackhawks and to mark the joyous occasion, he’ll probably have to face questions about the recent outburst by Owner and Chairman Rocky Wirtz at the team’s Town Hall event. Or maybe he’ll face questions about the pending new lawsuits against the team.
Or maybe he won’t.
Either way, today it was confirmed that DeBrincat would be participating in the Adidas Breakaway Challenge along with Kirill Kaprizov, Jack Hughes, Alex Pietrangelo, and Trevor Zegras.

DeBrincat leads all Blackhawks goal-scorers this season and is fourth in the NHL with 26 goals in 46 games, trailing only Auston Matthews (29), Alex Ovechkin (29), Leon Draisaitl (32), and league-leader Chris Kreider (33).
The Breakaway Challenge has provided some of the more memorable moments in recent All-Star weekend history. But who can forget Patrick Kane’s “Superman” moment from the 2012 NHL All-Star Breakaway Challenge?

DeBrincat isn’t known as a breakaway specialist, but he’s got a knack for flair, so it will be very interesting to see what kinds of tricks he can pull in the competition.
