With the Chicago Blackhawks expecting multiple injured players to return to the ice tonight, Alec Regula was returned to Rockford to make space on the roster. Regula was without a point in his four-game stint with the Blackhawks.

Among those expected to return to the lineup tonight against Edmonton is Jonathan Toews, who has been sidelined with a concussion since January 26. Joining Toews on the ice for the morning skate at the United Center were Tyler Johnson, Riley Stillman, and Calvin de Haan.

Tyler Johnson played in eight early-season games for the Blackhawks before a neck injury sidelined him. The veteran forward opted to undergo artificial disk replacement surgery (the same surgery Jack Eichel chose for his similar injury) and has been on the LTIR for most of the season as he worked his way back. Derek King said on Wednesday that getting this group of guys back on Thursday was “the game plan.”
Calvin de Haan is not on the IR, so no roster move needs to be made there, but Toews, Johnson, and Stillman will need to be activated this afternoon to play in tonight’s contest with Edmonton, which I expect we will see in the next few hours with the morning skate wrapping up at the United Center.
