On Monday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks added yet another defenseman to the mix for next year, signing defenseman Filip Roos to a two-year, entry-level contract that carries a $925,000 AAV.

Roos, 23, appeared in 50 games for Skellefteå AIK in the SHL this season. He’s listed at 6-4 and 192 pounds and is a left-handed shot. Swedish media outlet Sport Bladet first reported the Blackhawks would sign Roos back in early April, and the team finally made it official this morning.
“Filip is a big body who possesses strong skating abilities for his size,” General Manager Kyle Davidson said in the team statement. “That’s a combination of traits that teams across the league are always searching for. Filip played valuable minutes in Sweden’s top league this season and he will strengthen our pool of defensive prospects.”
The addition of Roos may indicate the Blackhawks will move on from restricted free agent defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk, who looked good in his first look at NHL action last season but spent this year in Rockford.
Chicago now has 14 defensemen signed for next season. Caleb Jones and Kalynuk are both RFAs while Calvin de Haan and Erik Gustafsson are unrestricted free agents.
Here's an interesting free agent signing for the #Blackhawks. 6'4 defenceman Filip Roos didn't score much but had elite defensive results in his first year in the SHL https://t.co/pzmRFes8wC pic.twitter.com/LbugNY0jRC
