As we settle into “summer” in the NHL, the Blackhawks action has slowed down. A lot of big names are gone — Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach on the ice, Pat Foley and Eddie Olczyk from the booth — but September brings training camp, and the season will be here sooner than we realize.
With the Blackhawks rebuilding, it’s worth taking a moment to consider the organization’s financial obligations to players on the current roster and to their prospects. So let’s take a look at how long the players in the organization today could be here (assuming they, too, aren’t traded). We’re using CapFriendly for the breakdown.
Note: players in italics will be restricted free agents when their current contract expires.
