On Tuesday, the NHLPA announced the roster of young prospects invited to their annual showcase with Upper Deck this year. And Blackhawks prospect Lukas Reichel will be in Washington, DC for the event in early September!
Reichel, 20, was the Blackhawks’ first-round pick (No. 17) in the 2020 NHL Draft. He appeared in 11 games with the Blackhawks last season, which was enough to burn the first year of his entry-level contract. However, with the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL he put on a show. He led the IceHogs in goals (21), assists (35) and points (56) in 55 games and broke Vinnie Hinostroza’s record of 51 points from a rookie skater.
According to the release from the NHLPA, the event “provides Upper Deck — the official trading card partner of the NHLPA and the NHL — with an opportunity to capture photographs and videos of many of the game’s top young prospects and rookies in their official NHL team uniforms. The content collected will be used for upcoming Upper Deck trading cards and related promotional materials.”
