On Wednesday night, the Chicago Blackhawks shared the new numbers for their offseason roster additions via their Instagram account.
The only new player with a one-way NHL contract who isn’t in the graphic is defenseman Jack Johnson. It is intriguing that Dylan Sikura is included given his two-way contract, and that he isn’t getting his previous Blackhawks number (95) back.
- Colin Blackwell will wear No. 43. The last skater to wear that in Chicago was Alex Vlasic last year.
- Petr Mrazek will wear No. 34. The last skater to wear that for the Hawks was Kurtis Gabriel last year.
- Max Domi will wear No. 13. The last skater to wear that in Chicago was Henrik Borgström last year.
- Andreas Athanasiou will wear No. 89. He will be the first Blackhawks player to wear 89.
- Alex Stalock will wear No. 32. The last Blackhawks player to wear 32 was Kevin Lankinen last year.
- And Sikura will wear No. 79. The only other player to wear 79 was also Kurtis Gabriel last year.
We are glad to see 28 hasn’t been handed out this year (yet). Since, you know, the Blackhawks need to #retire28 for Steve Larmer.
