Blackhawks Put Robinson on Waivers, Send Phillips to Rockford

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks made a couple roster moves on Sunday as we inch closer to the start of the 2022-23 regular season.

Defenseman Isaak Phillips was recalled before Saturday’s game in St. Louis. At the time we wondered why, but the trade of Riley Stillman meant they needed another body. Now that the preseason has come to a close, Phillips was reassigned to Rockford.

Chicago also placed forward Buddy Robinson on waivers, with him heading to Rockford if/when he clears. He signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks for this season and, despite being a large human being, didn’t establish himself as a necessary piece on the rebuilding Blackhawks’ NHL roster. The addition of Jason Dickinson in the Stillman deal meant he was expendable in the Hawks’ bottom six.
