I love these videos when we get the chance to see them. The Kelowna Rockets have named Blackhawks forward prospect Colton Dach their captain for the coming season. Dach stands and shares a few words with the younger prospects on their roster and gets a nice round of applause.

Videos like this and walk-ons getting a scholarship surprise in college sports are at the top of my feel good list when it comes to off-field/ice/court moments for athletes. And it speaks a lot to the character of the athlete to be named a captain in hockey.

The Blackhawks now have two prospects — Dach and Ethan Del Mastro — serving as captains of their junior clubs. Both had impressive summers with prospect workouts and looked good with/against NHL competition during training camp and in preseason games.
