As we get ready for the 2022-23 NHL regular season to begin, we’re giving brief previews of the other seven teams in the Central Division. One of the teams expected to do well this year is the Minnesota Wild, who handled the Blackhawks twice in the preseason. They’re projected to be one of the better teams in the Western Conference despite two significant departures in the offseason.
How will they do?
IneffectiveMath Projection: 96.1 (1st in Central)
JFresh Projection: 101 (2nd in Central)
The Athletic Projection: 105.5 (2nd in Central)
DraftKings Over/Under: 101.5 (2nd in Central)
What’d I miss?
The Wild needed to make some cap space, so they made a big trade this summer. Kevin Fiala was dealt to the Kings, bringing Brock Faber (who was the captain for the US at the World Juniors) home to Minnesota.
They also traded their starting goaltender for most of last season, Cam Talbot, to the Senators.
