On Friday, the Edmonton Oilers officially announced a number of additions to their front office. Why do we care? Because Duncan Keith now has a title.
According to the Oilers’ release, in Keith’s position as Player Development Consultant, “the three-time Stanley Cup champion will visit with Oilers draft picks at the junior level and also spend time with the team’s prospects in Bakersfield (AHL).”
Among the other moves announced by Edmonton, Warren Rychel is also now a pro scout. He appeared in two games for the Blackhawks during the 1988-89 season as a left wing (and his head shot looks a lot like John Travolta on HockeyDB). Why does his name ring a bell? Because Rychel was traded with Troy Murray to Winnipeg Jets for Bryan Marchment and Chris Norton in 1991.
