With Jonathan Toews apparently not able to go against the Devils in New Jersey tonight, the Blackhawks have recalled their top forward prospect from the Rockford IceHogs. Lukas Reichel has been called up to the NHL for the first time this season. To make room on the NHL roster, goaltender Petr Mrazek was placed on IR.
Reichel, 20, has 10 goals and 13 assists in 19 games for the IceHogs this season. Chicago’s first-round pick (No. 17 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft appeared in 11 games with the NHL club last year, registering one assist.
We’ll see where the Blackhawks slot him in the lineup tonight. He’s primarily a left wing, so maybe he’ll get some run with Patrick Kane and Max Domi?
