Seth Jones Tied An All-Star Game Record But the Central Division Lost the Championship Game

Chicago Blackhawks

Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones shook off his pedestrian performance in the Hardest Shot competition on Friday night and scored a goal in the first period (half?) for the Central Division against the Pacific to start the all-star festivities.

Jones’ goal gave the Central a 2-1 lead against the Pacific. He added an assist on two Clayton Keller goals to give him three points in the first game of the All-Star event. The Central Division advanced with a 6-4 win against the Pacific.

Seth’s goal tied him for the top of the record books with Sidney Crosby and Cam Atkinson since the league went to the 3-on-3 format.

Seth and the Central faced the Atlantic Division in the championship game. Unfortunately, the Atlantic skated to a 3-0 lead in the first half and the Central didn’t have enough time to complete a comeback in them after sitting through the Eastern Conference game. They did turn it up in the final minute, however, scoring four times in the final 73 seconds to make a blowout loss into a somewhat interesting final score.

The final score of the championship game was 7-5 with Matthew Tkachuk of the Panthers earning MVP honors. Dylan Larkin scored five goals in the tournament, including a championship-game hat trick.
