With the Blackhawks missing some players — specifically Jonathan Toews — and being among the worst teams in the NHL even when fully healthy, we know tonight’s game in Toronto was going to be a tall ask.
But the gamblers don’t think the Blackhawks have a chance.
In fact, the Leafs’ odds are historic. Toronto is a -610 favorite (as of me writing this) on FanDuel and -600 on DraftKings. According to Covers, replying to an inquiry on Twitter from Bleacher Report, the Maple Leafs are the biggest favorite in NHL history tonight.
Toronto comes into the game in third place in the Atlantic Division with 72 points in 54 games; they’re percentage points behind Tampa for second place (the Bolts also have 72 points but in 53 contests).
The Blackhawks, on the other hand, come into the game second-to-last in the NHL in point percentage. Chicago has 37 points in 52 games this season.
Add to the record differences the return of Auston Matthews tonight and this has the gambling community thinking it’s a layup for the Leafs. But they still have to play the game!
