UPDATE: All of the dominos we’ve talked about for the past few days are falling into place. Patrick Kane will not play tonight in San Jose and the Rangers have placed forward Jake Leschyshyn on waivers.
It’s worth noting as well that apparently Kane was never going to dress for the Blackhawks in San Jose tonight because… he isn’t in San Jose. According to Darren Dreger, Kane is no longer with the Blackhawks team.

While I was chatting with David Pagnotta and Dennis Bernstein from The Fourth Period on the NHL Hot Stove show on NHL Network Radio this morning, that stove got things to a boil for Chicago. Patrick Kane‘s trade out of Chicago appears to be coming to a head TODAY.
Pagnotta added on the air as this was breaking that it appears we’ve gotten to the point that most of the I’s are dotted and T’s are crossed and it’s close enough that we’ll now wait for paperwork to get to Kane and his agent, Pat Brisson.
As a reminder for those who read “still haven’t waived his no-movement clause” and think nothing’s happening, Kane won’t formally be asked to make a decision until everything is lined up and ready to go. And, now, it appears that’s where we’re at with the New York Rangers and a third team (which could reportedly be the Canucks).
So strap in and make a fresh pot of coffee because this might shape up to be a long afternoon for the emotions of Blackhawks fans.
