Now Official: Blackhawks Trade Max Domi To Dallas
After losing to the Dallas Stars 5-2 on Thursday night, the Blackhawks announced they have traded Max Domi and goaltender Dylan Wells to the Dallas Stars for goaltender Anton Khudobin and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Khudobin, 36, is in the final year of a contract that carries a $3,333,333 cap hit. He has been buried in the AHL all season and will report to Rockford.
Domi, who turns 27 on March 2 (yes, that’s today), bet on himself this season, taking a one-year deal with the Blackhawks to re-establish himself as a top-line center. Many people — including me — asked if he could be a viable top-six center struggling at the dot; this season he’s having the best season of his career in the faceoff circle and has been producing offensively as well.
His birthday present from the Blackhawks: a playoff berth.
He had other options as a free agent last summer but chose Chicago because he wanted to play for Luke Richardson. Not only did Domi bet on himself and win, but he’s been a terrific player in the room and a fun guy on the ice. Now, the Stars are betting on him helping them win the Western Conference.
Happy birthday, Max.
