NHL Trade Deadline: Tracking Every Deal In The Central Division

The Chicago Blackhawks have been incredibly busy this season moving players in and out of the organization. But they haven’t been the only team in the division getting busy over the past few weeks. Going back to late-January, here are the moves made by the rest of the teams in the Central Division as we look ahead to the home stretch of the 2023 NHL regular season and the 2023 NHL Draft Lottery.

Note: As more trades are made official I will update that throughout the day on Friday.

Dallas Stars

  • Feb. 26 — acquired forward Evgenii Dadonov from the Montreal Canadiens for forward Denis Gurianov.
  • March 2 — acquired forward Max Domi and goaltender Dylan Wells from the Chicago Blackhawks for goaltender Anton Khudobin and Dallas’ 2nd round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
  • March 3 — acquired forward Scott Reedy from the San Jose Sharks for Jacob Peterson.
  • Minnesota Wild

  • Feb. 17 — acquired Toronto’s 4th round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in exchange for eating 50% of Ryan O’Reilly‘s cap hit (full details of the trade below). Minnesota sent forward Josh Pillar to St. Louis in the three-team deal.
  • Feb. 23 — acquired Boston’s 5th round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft for eating part of Dmitry Orlov‘s cap hit. Minnesota also sent forward Andrei Svetlakov to Boston in the three-team deal.
  • Feb. 28 — acquired forward Gustav Nyqvist from the Columbus Blue Jackets for Minnesota’s 5th round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
  • Feb. 28 — acquired center Marcus Johansson from the Washington Capitals for Minnesota’s 3rd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
  • March 3 — acquired forward Oskar Sundqvist from the Detroit Red Wings for a 4th round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
  • March 3 — acquired a 2nd round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and 5th round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Buffalo Sabres for forward Jordan Greenway.
  • March 3 — acquired defenseman John Klingberg from the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Andre Sustr, the rights to forward Nikita Nesterenko and 4th round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
  • Colorado Avalanche

  • Jan. 25 — acquire forward Matt Nieto and defenseman Ryan Merkley from San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Martin Kaut and defenseman Jacob MacDonald.
  • Feb. 25 — acquired goaltender Keith Kinkaid from the Boston Bruins for center Shane Bowers.
  • Feb. 26 — acquired defenseman Jack Johnson from the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Andreas Englund.
  • March 1 — acquired center Lars Eller from the Washington Capitals for Colorado’s 2nd round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
  • March 3 — acquired forward Gustav Rydahl from the New York Rangers for forward Anton Blidh.
  • Winnipeg Jets

  • Feb. 25 — acquired forward Nino Niederreiter from the Nashville Predators for Winnipeg’s 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
  • March 3 — acquired forward Vladislav Namestnikov from the San Jose Sharks for a 4th round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

  • Feb. 25 — acquired Winnipeg’s 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Winnipeg Jets for forward Nino Niederreiter.
  • Feb. 26 — acquired forward Isaac Ratcliffe from the Philadelphia Flyers for future considerations.
  • Feb. 26 — acquired defenseman Cal Foote, Tampa’s 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks in the 2023 NHL Draft, Tampa’s 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and Tampa’s 1st round pick (top-10 protected) in the 2025 NHL Draft for forward Tanner Jeannot.
  • Feb 28 — acquired forward Austin Rueschhoff from the New York Rangers for future considerations.
  • Feb. 28 — acquired defenseman Tyson Barrie, forward Reid Schaefer, Edmonton’s 1st round pick in 2023 and Edmonton’s 4th round pick in 2024 for defenseman Mattias Ekholm and Nashville’s 6th round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
  • March 1 — acquired Pittsburgh’s 2nd round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft for forward Mikael Granlund.
  • March 3 — acquire forward Rasmus Asplund from the Buffalo Sabres for a 7th round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

  • Feb. 9 — acquired forward Sammy Blais, defenseman Hunter Skinner, a conditional 1st round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft (the lower of New York’s two picks), and a conditional 3rd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (becomes a 4th if NYR miss the playoffs in 2023) from the New York Rangers for forward Vladimir Tarasenko and defenseman Niko Mikkola.
  • Feb. 17 — acquired centers Adam Gaudette and Mikhail Abramov, Toronto’s 1st and Ottawa’s 3rd round picks in the 2023 NHL Draft and Toronto’s 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft for forwards Ryan O’Reilly, Noel Acciari and Josh Pillar (from MIN).
  • Feb. 26 — acquired center Zach Dean from the Vegas Golden Knights for center Ivan Barbashev.
  • March 3 — acquired forward Jakub Vrana from the Detroit Red Wings for forward Dylan McLaughlin and a 7th round draft pick in 2025.

  • Feb. 22 — acquired the contract of defenseman Shea Weber (cap circumvention) and Vegas’ 5th round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft from the Vegas Golden Knights for defenseman Dysin Mayo.
  • Feb. 28 — acquired the New York Rangers’ 3rd round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Rangers to eat 25% of Patrick Kane‘s salary. Arizona also sent defenseman Vili Saarijarvi to Chicago.
  • March 1 — acquired Carolina’s 3rd round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft from the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere.
  • March 1 — acquired Ottawa’s 1st round pick (top-5 protected) in the 2023 NHL Draft, a conditional 2nd round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft (becomes a top-10 protected 2024 first-round pick if Ottawa makes the ECF) and Ottawa’s 2nd round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft for defenseman Jakob Chyrchun.
  • March 2 — acquired defenseman Michael Kesselring and a 3rd round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft from the Edmonton Oilers for forward Nick Bjugstad.

  • Feb. 28 — acquired a conditional 2nd round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft (becomes a 1st in either 2024 or 2025 if NYR reach the 2023 ECF), New York’s 4th round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and defensemen Vili Saarijarvi (from ARI) and Andy Welinski (from NYR) for forward Patrick Kane and defenseman Cooper Zech.
  • March 2 — acquired forward Anders Bjork from the Buffalo Sabres for future considerations.
