TSN does some crazy stuff for the trade deadline every year. Their coverage begins before this published and won’t end until after the deadline at 2 PM CT. Apparently this year they have a musically creative tribute to the teams that are trying hard to be Bad for Bedard. So after a long week, I’m opening our Trade Deadline Friday bullets with that… because that’s what it’s all about.
- With their loss to Dallas on Thursday night, the Blackhawks move up/down into second in the Bad for Bedard Sweepstakes standings entering Trade Deadline Day.
- I’m putting this right up front today because there were a whole bunch of people on the social media that didn’t want to read why David Gust was on waivers on Wednesday. It’s so he can get sent back to Rockford at some point. And that “some point” will be on Friday, when we should all full expect about a half dozen guys to be sent to Rockford in paper transactions so they’re eligible for the playoffs in the AHL this season. Please… please read this.
- The Blackhawks announced a trade before the game on Thursday that will help Rockford. They traded forward Dylan Sikura to the Anaheim Ducks for forward Maxim Golod. Golod is headed directly to the ECHL. Rockford is adding a couple good players in the overall swap, however. Rockford announced they also acquired forwards Rocco Grimaldi and Logan Nijhoff from the San Diego Gulls in exchange for future considerations. Decent overall boost for the IceHogs as they look to make a playoff push.
- The IceHogs added a veteran goaltender after the game on Thursday night when the Blackhawks acquired Anton Khudobin in the trade that sent Max Domi to Dallas.
- Time for the heart breaker to break our heart… Charlie Roumeliotis from NBC Sports Chicago was at MSG for Patrick Kane’s first game with the Rangers and shared all of the video that makes the dust in the room suddenly get in your eyes…
- With the trade deadline hitting this afternoon, I’m keeping track of every move made by the Blackhawks’ Central Division rivals leading up the 2 PM CT cutoff today.
- With the Kane and Domi deals in the books, here’s a look at what the Blackhawks’ front office has done since the start of October.
- The Big Ten men’s hockey tournament begins today (March 3-5) with three best-of-three quarterfinal series — and each of those series will include a Blackhawks prospect. No. 2 seed Michigan (Frank Nazar) will host No. 7 seed Wisconsin , No. 3 seed Ohio State (Jake Wise) will entertain No. 6 seed Penn State and No. 4 seed Notre Dame (Landon Slaggert) will host No. 5 seed Michigan State. Michigan State and Penn State tied for fifth place, however the Spartans claimed the fifth seed based on its head-to-head record against the Nittany Lions. Minnesota, the top seed, gets a first-round bye.
- Finally, since we’re obsessing about the NHL Draft for the rest of this season, why not join our overlapping obsession with the NFL Draft as well? The Bears already own the No. 1 pick and the NFL Draft Combine is happening right now. Patrick’s all over the details as the top prospects work out and meed with the media.
