With the NHL season coming to a close in Chicago, a public memorial for Bobby Hull will be held in the United Center Atrium. The event is expected to be open to the public between 11-4 on Saturday, May 13.
This public memorial is not being officially hosted by the Blackhawks organization or their alumni.
Hull passed away on Jan. 30. The Blackhawks showed a video montage before their next home game and flowers were placed by his statue outside the United Center, but that has been the extent of the remembrances from the organization.
No jersey patch, which they have done for Stan Mikita and Tony Esposito in recent seasons. No logo or number painted on the ice. Just a video montage. The complicated personal history of Hull led to a lot of conversation about the Blackhawks should honor the organization’s all-time leading goal scorer.
