Patrick Kane: Returning to Chicago ‘Never Crossed My Mind’
On Wednesday, the New York Rangers met with the media for their end-of-season availability. After a disappointing first-round loss to the rival New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, obviously the players weren’t happy to be in this scenario. That included Patrick Kane.
Kane answered a number of questions from the New York media, including some comments about his time with the Rangers and their group moving forward. But one answer grabbed my attention.
The Blackhawks made it clear they’re moving on to the next generation before the trade deadline when they moved Kane and subsequently announced they will not offer another contract to Jonathan Toews.
Chicago traded Kane to the Rangers at the end of February in a deal that will now include their second-round pick in this summer’s draft (because the Rangers lost when they did).
