When the 2022-23 season began for many of the Blackhawks’ top prospects, especially those playing junior, we were searching far and wide for box scores and highlights to keep up with their performances.
At the winter edition of the World Juniors, the Blackhawks had four prospects in action — with Connor Bedard. Kevin Korchinski, Nolan Allan, Colton Dach and Ethan Del Mastro were all recent draft picks by Chicago and three of the four were captains of their respective junior clubs; only Korchinski wasn’t wearing a “C.”
Shortly after that tournament, three of those four players were traded by their junior teams. And three of those future Blackhawks — Korchinski, Allan and Dach — were suddenly teammates on the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL. Now, we could keep an eye on three exciting young players in one place.
Those Thunderbirds have been great all year, and a series of moves including the additions of two more Blackhawks prospects bolstered their lineup with hopes of making a run to the Memorial Cup.
Tonight in Winnipeg, Seattle — and all three Blackhawks prospects — begins the next step of that quest as the WHL Championship series begins.
