Yes, I Saw the Horrible Andrew Shaw Comments on Kyle Beach

Last week, former Blackhawk Andrew Shaw appeared on the “Raw Knuckles” Podcast. The episode is 97 minutes long and they talk about a lot of different topics with Shaw, but one topic has grabbed a lot of attention in the last 24 hours.

About 60 minutes into the show, host and former enforcer Chris Nilan asked Shaw about his former head coach, Joel Quenneville, still being out of the NHL because of his inaction when Kyle Beach was sexually assaulted by video coach Brad Aldrich in 2010. There are reports that Q might get back into coaching this summer.

Here’s a transcript of Andrew Shaw’s response (tweeted by Jay Zawaski):

Shaw’s comments, specifically saying Beach “put himself in a bad situation,” have understandably been getting blasted on social media over the past couple days. They’re unnecessarily callous and certainly tone deaf.
