So much for seeing Artyom Levshunov‘s first action in a Blackhawks sweater this weekend in St. Louis. The Blackhawks announced on Wednesday morning that the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft will miss some time because of a foot injury suffered in practice before joining the team.
According to Elliotte Friedman on Twitter, “There was word here at the NHL/NHLPA media tour … he is expected to be in a walking boot and out for a few weeks.”
UPDATE: IceHogs head coach Anders Sorensen, who is coaching the prospects this week, did not offer much insight into the injury after practice. Levshunov was at the skate watching part of practice from the bench and Sorensen said he really wanted to be out there. It doesn’t sound like this is going to be a long-term issue, which is good news with NHL training camp beginning one week from today.
