Hey! There’s a Blackhawks practice today! Yesterday I shared a full download of everything you need to know for practices in Chicago, when the games are happening in St. Louis and, yes, finally, where to stream the games. It’s exciting to have Blackhawks back on the ice, folks. The NHL guys report next week!
For those who subscribe, I’ll be on “The Power Play” on NHL Network on Sirius/XM Radio this afternoon around 3:20 PM CT to talk a little Blackhawks puck. Feel free to listen in!
- On Wednesday morning, Corey Pronman wrote about the most interesting prospect heading into training camps for all 32 NHL teams. For the Blackhawks, he named Artyom Levshunov. Here’s his rationale in picking the No. 2 overall pick from this summer’s draft:
The No. 2 pick in the most recent draft, although he was not considered the consensus No. 2 prospect in his class, Levshunov signed with Chicago shortly after the draft. Levshunov is a very talented defenseman with clear NHL skill and athleticism, and was excellent at Michigan State. He’s likely ticketed for the AHL this season, but given how quickly he’s adapted to higher levels in recent years, it will be interesting if he tempts Chicago into giving him some early NHL action.
- We got a first look at some superstars as they’ll appear in NHL25 from EA Sports on Tuesday, including Blackhawks center Connor Bedard. What do you think? And… will you be playing this year?
- Will Bedard be on Canada’s roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off in February? Pierre LeBrun had a lengthy sit down with Doug Armstrong, who will be in charge of building that roster. According to LeBrun, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed the deadline to submit full rosters for the 4 Nations is Dec. 2 — which feels pretty early for a tournament that starts two full months later.
- As a reminder, Canada’s first six skaters have already been named: Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Brad Marchand, Brayden Point and Cale Makar.
- Happy birthday to Harvey Wittenberg and Teuvo Teräväinen. Turbo turns 30 today, which makes me feel super old. Well… not as old as talking to this year’s prospect camp attendees will… but still makes me feel old.
- I know a lot of Blackhawks fans got on Roberto Luongo when he was part of the terrific rivalry between the Hawks and Canucks in the early 2010s, but if you follow him on social media he’s a legit gem of a human being. And apparently he dropped by a local rink to help a beer league team in need. This would be hilariously amazing to be part of and I wish I was there to watch it live.
- Well, this sounds… awkward…
- Hey, Jordie Benn retired on Tuesday.
- Finally, Pete Crow-Armstrong put another tape together for his Gold Glove resume last night in LA, including a game-ending over-the-wall heist. Defense is trending in this town… you’re up, Blackhawks!
