Lots of eyes will be on Connor Bedard and Auston Matthews in this Monday night matchup, but the intrigue will be seeing if Blackhawks netminder Arvid Söderblom, who beat the Leafs twice last year, can stay hot to start this season. He played his best two games last year against Toronto.
In the second half of a back-to-back, the Blackhawks traveled on Sunday night so we’ll see if there are any lineup tweaks from the squad that skated on Sunday afternoon against Columbus.

Injury Report
Chicago Blackhawks
- Laurent Brossoit (knee) and Seth Jones (right foot) are on IR.
Toronto Maple Leafs
- Max Domi, Max Pacioretty, David Kampf, Calle Jarnkrok and Bobby McMann are on IR. Jake McCabe and Ryan Reaves are out.
What to Watch For
- Bedard and Matthews. Two lethal offensive players. Matthews missed a bunch of time because of injury already this season, and Bedard is starting to warm up offensively. Let’s see if we get some fireworks this evening.
- The Blackhawks have been very good defensively this season, even while Jones has been out of the lineup. Well, at least until last night. This will be a test, though.
- Can the Blackhawks get some secondary scoring to give them a chance against the firepower of the Leafs? How about three more power play goals like last night.
