On Thursday morning, the Blackhawks announced they have signed forward prospect AJ Spellacy to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal has a $975,000 cap hit.
Spellacy, who turns 19 on Feb. 24, was a third-round pick by the Blackhawks (No. 72 overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft.
He lit up the Blackhawks prospect showcase games and training camp this fall and turned a lot of heads at the USA Hockey showcase before the World Juniors. He’s played both center and wing for Windsor in the OHL this season.
