Since the Blackhawks were off on Sunday, let’s start our Monday with a some prospects. A quick note for those looking for IceHogs action with the Blackhawks off for a couple days: the AHL All-Star Game is tonight. Kevin Korchinski and Cole Guttman will represent the Blackhawks and IceHogs at the event. You can watch the event(s) on NHL Network tonight at 8 PM CT.
- Another reminder: co-captain Ryan Greene and Boston University play Harvard in the Beanpot at TD Garden in Boston 4 PM CT today.
- In the same first period for Brantford, Marek Vanacker also scored a pretty goal (the first of the four-goal opening frame for the Bulldogs). After Nick Lardis scored four straight goals for the Bulldogs, Vanacker scored his second of the game. Before the end of the second period, the two Blackhawks prospects had six goals! Lardis added an assist for a five-point game in a huge Brantford win.

- Not to be outdone by any means, the Windsor Spitfires and London Knights played an enthusiastic game that involved a few pleasant exchanges of greeting cards (there were 13 power plays in the game). London took a 3-0 lead in the opening 23 minutes of action, but Windsor came all the way back to tie it. And then Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy scored this ridiculous short-handed goal to give Windsor the lead — and it stood up as the game-winner! Note the drive by celly in front of the London bench. Love it. Swagger for days. And the jets? Ruthless.

- The Fourth Period updated their trade watch list on Sunday after more moves this weekend. Two Blackhawks appear on their list. Seth Jones was at No. 6 overall, and the Dallas Stars are listed as an interested team. Ryan Donato appears at No. 19 on the list and he’s linked to Winnipeg, Los Angeles, Ottawa, Toronto, New Jersey, Carolina.
- The Blackhawks didn’t skate yesterday so we’ll have to wait until later this morning to see if we get an update on Louis Crevier. He was boarded in the middle of the first period on Saturday in Florida and did not return to the game.
- Good points made by Ben Pope in this piece. There are learning experiences and then there’s watching old guys get their asses handed to them by a better team from the bench while getting 10 or 12 minutes of ice time. The hope in the final couple months of this regular season is that the young Blackhawks learn to compete. Part of the issue with the more lop-sided losses has been the change in coaches/philosophy from playing a tight game with a chance to win to taking chances for offense and paying the price defensively. Maybe… maybe the Blackhawks should get closer to what they were doing in the first 26 games of the season? Nah…
- We assumed this was coming so the Wild could flex some salary cap space: Kirill Karpizov was placed on LTIR on Sunday. The Wild are also waiting for Ryan Hartman to have an in-person hearing for a cheap shot on Saturday night.

- It was the Bulls’ turn to make a blockbuster trade on Sunday. They sent Zach LaVine to the Kings for… well… anyways…
- Buried under the LaVine headlines: the Cubs signing White Sox legend Nicky Lopez.
