So far, the Chicago Bulls have brought only two lottery-caliber players in for workouts (shooting guard Jarrett Culver and forward Sekou Doumbouya) this offseason. When you take into account the team’s pick at No. 7, it surely feels a bit odd that we haven’t seen more names on that list, especially with under a week to go until draft night.
Well, according to the Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson, the Bulls are bringing in another top prospect for a workout, and this time from a position of need: point guard …
Following up on yesterday’s Jaxson Hayes Tweet, the Texas big man has intrigued some within the Bulls, per sources.
Also, Coby White visit is possibility next week. The draft combine chatter that the Suns promised him at No. 6 has quieted since then.

Since the lottery, Chicago has been linked to Coby White A LOT. Considering his position as the third-ranked point guard behind Ja Morant and Darius Garland, he lines up well to be available when the Bulls pick and obviously fills that apparent vacancy. We have talked about the guy at length, so if you want more information on him, then I would recommend going to read over our Getting to Know article and mock drafts article.
I know, there is a second name you see in that tweet, so let’s discuss that, as well. Yesterday, Johnson reported somebody he trusts believes the Bulls could be interested in the No. 1 ranked center out of Texas, Jaxson Hayes.
Hayes certainly comes as a bit of a surprise considering the team drafted center Wendell Carter Jr. just last year, but he was here and the Bulls were impressed. Indeed, Hayes has plenty of NBA upside, especially when you take into account his rim protection, but he definitely is a project. Overall, with an obvious starter already at the position and a mostly youthful roster, he would likely be the most helpful pick for the Bulls.
Anyway, I have a theory, after drafting two big men with back-to-back No. 7 picks, it’s quite possible the Bulls organization feels like they scout that position the best. I’ll admit, it looks like the team got themselves two very solid draft picks there, but you can’t necessarily draft out of comfort, you have to draft out of need and potential.
Time to wait and see if this news goes anywhere.
