Keep An Eye Out For …
Bulls Player: All eyes on you, Tomas Satoransky. No, I don’t believe Coby White should take over the starting point guard duties. Satoransky is still finding his footing with an entirely new team while coming off a summer full of tiring basketball. I would’ve loved to see him dish out more than nine total assists over the team’s first three games, but I’m not going to blame the guy for the team’s poor offensive start. In fact, I expect a nice jump in production from Satoransky this week. The impending matchups against Frank Ntilikina and Collin Sexton/Darius Garland pose a strong opportunity to show these youngsters who’s boss. If he gets things right over these next two games, we could see these slow starts eliminated and a much better all-around Bulls team.
Knicks Player: RJ Barrett’s looking as good as advertised through his first three official NBA games. The Knicks No. 3-overall draft pick has scored over 15 points per game in each contest, shooting over 50 percent from the field and three-point line. The Knicks have an incredibly weird roster packed to the brim with forwards, so with Barrett as one of the teams only ball handlers, the Bulls should walk away victorious if they slow him down.
Cavs Player: It’s been the veterans Kevin Love and Tristian Thompson leading the way through these first couple games for the Cavaliers. Wendell Carter Jr. should be able to give Thompson enough problems on the defensive end, but I have no idea who on the Bulls can battle Love. Markkanen has pretty much been a liability on the defensive end to start this season, and I hate everything about that matchup right now. Love also had nine assists in the Cavs win over the Pacers to go along with 21 points and 13 rebounds … and that was against a backcourt of Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis. I don’t want to worry about a 2019 Kevin Love, but I am.
Pistons Player: Screw it, I’m picking Derrick Rose, who’s looking like a man on a mission. Off the bench, Rose has scored 18, 27, and 31 points respectively, over his first three games with the Pistons. The old man game is strong with this one. The former MVP is bound to cool off, but the idea of having him on the court against the Bulls’ second unit is kind of scary.
Pacers Player: Malcolm Brogdon is looking like an offensive machine. He’s dished out double-digit assists in both of the Pacers’ first two games to go along with dropping 22 and 30 points, respectively. Satoransky will not only have his hands full guarding Brogdon but also trying to prove he can facilitate just as well on the offensive end. As of now finding an answer for Brogdon with the Bulls defensive woes feels unlikely. I could see Dunn’s name being called often in this one.
