Earlier today, reports indicated that John Paxson, who has been largely silent all season, had canceled his annual Christmas interview on 670 The Score. It looked ugly and, frankly, lame. Then, just a few hours later, Paxson decided to speak individually to only a select couple media outlets ahead of the team’s game tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.
For all of our sake, I’m just going to cut to the chase – the interviews are painful (Sun-Times here, NBCSC here). We’ll have to talk more about this when our heat level subsides a bit.
Check them out for yourself, and note the “highlights”:

Paxson on Boylen hob security:
When asked if Boylen was in trouble, Paxson responded, “No, no … ‘’
No Christmas Day surprises about a coach getting fired?
“No … look there is no quick fix to right where we’re at,'' Paxson said.— Joe Cowley (@JCowleyHoops) December 14, 2019

Does Pax believe players are still buying in? "I don’t expect this group to fracture. I’d be disappointed if they did. All the guys in that locker room expressed to us their character and that’s not where they want to go or would ever go. I believe when they tell me that. "

Pax: "We all thought we would have won more games. And the way we’ve lost some of them has been hard to stomach. But like I said, I see things being done on the practice floor and the teaching and then the lack of consistent carry over to the games that has hurt us."
