How many times have y’all heard the “see you next decade” joke? Is it a lot? I’m guessing it’s a lot.
For some reason, only a few things make me more uncomfortable than lazy/cliche/easy jokes. For example, you know when you tell someone you’re going on a cool vacation and they respond with something like “got any room in that suitcase for me!?”
Ew. And no, no I don’t, Rick. You are a full-grown man, and even if you could fit, you would 100 percent be stopped by security or suffocate on our way to my destination. (Michael: My favorite is when a server asks how I liked my food, and I point at my empty plate while saying “I hAtEd iT!” Classic. Comedy.)
Anyway, I fully expect a bunch of “see you next decade” comments tweeted at me or commented on this now. But I don’t care, I wanted to briefly complain about this!
Bullets time!
Deny it all you want, but the Bulls chemistry is looking better now than it has all season. The frustrated facepalming has turned into the more-standard emotionless watching over the last several games (and I’d consider that an improvement). And Zach LaVine and Tomas Satoransky are apparently whom we have to thank for that. NBC Sports Chicago spoke with both players about their role in helping this team click, and according to Satoransky, he’s in constant communication with LaVine when on the court.
I’m encouraged to see these two develop chemistry over time, even if didn’t come immediately/naturally. Not to get all “philosophical,” but I like the attitude and continued effort implied by that development. LaVine and Satoransky are trying to do all they can to win games, and both know that when either player gets going, accomplishing that task becomes a lot easier. An aggressive Satoransky not only opens the floor more for LaVine and the rest of the offense, but it also gives the Bulls one more potential hot-hand to target during key offensive possessions. The more these two work off of each other, the better this team is going to be.
LaVine and Satoransky will have to continue to channel that chemistry with the upcoming January schedule looking real rough. The Bulls will play 17 games this upcoming month, with nine of those games coming against teams with an above .500 record (the Pacers and Celtics each account for two of those games). The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry goes through all the teams the Bulls will battle in January, so check it out for a more in-depth look. One depressing reminder he shares: the Bulls are 1-11 against teams with a .500 and above record this season. Yikes.
For the Bulls, their best offense is their defense.
20.5% of the Bulls' points this season have come off of turnovers, by far the most in the NBA.
The gap between them and 2nd-ranked Toronto (17.4%) is about the same as the difference between the Raps and the 24th-ranked Pistons (14.2%)
KIND OF BIG NEWS ALERT: According to one report by the LA Times, the Clippers could be interested in trading for Thaddeus Young. Are you interested? Make sure to give the post a read for more on that.
Before the Bulls start 2020 with an incredibly difficult schedule, they’ll end the decade with a game against the NBA’s best team! Surprisingly, the Bulls played two relatively close games against the Bucks already this season. Unfortunatly (after some early speculation to the contrary) the Bucks will be at full strength, while the Bulls may not:
Bucks list Giannis and Bledsoe as available vs. Bulls.
Perfect no look drop pass by Wendell Carter and he's there for the re-screen if LaVine wants it. Little things that show great feel. pic.twitter.com/MUilmMOqTo
Lauri Markkanen’s favorite Bulls moment was when he showed out at Madison Square Garden during his rookie year with 33 points and dunked on Enes Kanter. Gosh, that was so darn awesome.
