While the Bulls might still say they plan to make a playoff run down the stretch, tonight set the tone for the team’s remaining 26 games this season – it’s ain’t gonna happen.
Six of the Bulls players may have been sidelined with injury, but nothing about tonight’s 103-93 loss the Charlotte Hornets signified a new direction. Instead, the team came out as flat offensively as it has all season, shooting 0-15 from the 3-point line in the first half and walked into the locker room down 60-44.
The team managed to make things kind of interesting, bringing the Hornets’ lead down to just six heading into the final frame. However, in typical Bulls fashion, the team couldn’t finish a game and it meant dropping a season series against one of the weakest teams in the NBA.
It also meant a loss right out of the gate, which was, incidentally, their seventh in a row.
Record-wise though, the Bulls are now considered the weaker team. The loss dropped them into 11th-place in the Eastern Conference with a 19-37 record.
Hornets 103, Bulls 93
Bulls have lost season-high 7 straight and drop to season-worst 18 games under .500. Also drop below Hornets to 11th in East. Hornets never trailed.

Yeah, so let’s please stop talking playoffs.
All I’m looking for now is for some on-court development from some members of this young core and some smiling faces. I don’t think any game this season showed better how desperately this team needs a change of leadership. Coming out of the All-Star break against a bottom-of-the-barrel opponent should’ve meant an energized and firey team. Instead, the Bulls delivered the exact opposite, almost mimicking the “I don’t care” vibe that exists currently within the United Center.
I don’t care if this team loses anymore, I just want these young guys to have fun. The more toxic of an atmosphere that builds in the locker room, the lesser development we’ll see from key players like Coby White, Daniel Gafford, Wendell Carter Jr., and Lauri Markkanen.
I'm all in with what Stacey said on the broadcast.
I just want to see this team have fun over the next 27 games. Win or lose, that kind of stuff is contagious. The locker room might not be the best atmosphere, but on the court, that's the player's domain. Try to enjoy it.

Anyway, 26 games to go!
