Mark Your Calendars: Neil Funk’s Final Game Will Be April 15

Chicago Bulls

The official end of an era finally has its final date.

Neil Funk’s final game as the Chicago Bulls’ play-by-play voice will be April 15th against the Boston Celtics. So mark your calendars and set your DVRs accordingly, as the long-time voice of the Bulls gets his send-off on the road in Boston. That game is also the regular-season finale, so it should be a doozy of a production.

Funk’s retirement was announced earlier in the year, but his final game was left to be determined later. After all, the Bulls had playoff hopes back then, and Funk would have been up to broadcast those. But with postseason dreams having faded, Funk’s finale has a date and place. But that’s not the only play-by-play announcement the Bulls made today.

The Bulls revealed the remainder of the TV play-by-play substitute schedule, featuring some names and voices fans should be familiar with: Adam Amin, Jason Benetti, Lisa Byington, and J.B. Long will be calling games down the stretch this season. Perhaps one of the aforementioned play-by-play announcers will emerge as Funk’s eventual replacement.

Here’s how the March schedule shakes out:

  • Adam Amin, Wednesday, March 4 at Timberwolves
  • Jason Benetti, Sunday, March 8 at Nets
  • J.B. Long, Thursday, March 12 at Magic
  • J.B. Long, Saturday, March 14 at Heat
  • Adam Amin, Friday, March 20 at Spurs
  • Adam Amin, Saturday, March 21 at Rockets
  • Lisa Byington, Monday, March 30 at Jazz

And here’s April:

  • J.B. Long, Friday, April 3 at Nuggets
  • Lisa Byington, Saturday, April 5 at Suns
  • Adam Amin, Monday April 6 at Clippers
  • Adam Amin, Wednesday, April 8 at Lakers
