Someone pinch me. The Chicago Bulls are officially (finally) headed in a new direction.
In a process that feels almost two decades in the making, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is now reporting that the Chicago Bulls are set to name (former) Nuggets GM Arturas Karnisovas the next executive vice president of basketball operations!
Bulls offered the job to Karnisovas earlier this evening, and negotiated the details through the night, sources said. Karnisovas will leave Denver for Chicago after helping Tim Connelly and Josh Kroenke to rebuild the Nuggets into a Western Conference contender. https://t.co/HMtQ2OivGQ

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS!?
While we were certainly prepared for a new hire sometime soon, I’m still sitting here tonight nearly speechless. We’ve grown so accustomed to mediocrity – and an almost masochistic resistance to self-improvement – that it felt like it was never actually going to end. Indeed, even when news first broke that the Bulls were going to overhaul the front office, our collective refrain was deafening: “We’ll believe it when we see it.”
Well, it’s time to believe.
As the saga continued throughout this week, it became clearer every day that Karnisovas was going to be the guy. And, indeed, the Bulls moved fast, offering him the job one day after their first interview. And, of course, they’re not done yet – not with the most important jobs in the organization still ripe for improvement:
Confirming that Bulls are negotiating a deal to make Nuggets GM Arturas Karnisovas their next head of basketball operations, per source. 1st with news was @wojespn. As previously reported, this hire will work to build out organizational infrastructure, including a GM.

“This hire will work to build out organizational infrastructure, including a GM.”
In other words, there’s more big news on the way. But we’ll put a pin in that for now.
I know the fact that this team is moving on in any capacity is exciting, but be sure to appreciate whom they’re getting. Karnisovas is no small potato. He is an incredibly well-respected executive in league circles, and this is a move that truly makes it feel safe to say … THE BULLS ARE BACK!
More on all of this tomorrow. Chug some celebratory champagne and hit the hay. We’ll have lot more to discuss soon!
