SPORTS! SPORTS! SPORTS!
For a couple of hours, we can pretend like everything is normal thanks to the NFL Draft tonight. Sure, the broadcast might look a little different, but at least it’ll be something familiar and on schedule. Make sure you’re following Luis over at BN Bears for all the updates!
• Earlier this morning we got an unexpected update(?) on the Chicago Bulls general manager search. A source with Sportando tweeted the organization was in “advanced discussions” with CAA agent Austin Brown (who represents names like Dwyane Wade, Zion Williamson, and Donovan Mitchell). However, it didn’t take long for that update to, well, cease existing. Catch up on what went down with our post from earlier today:
Yes, We Saw That Deleted Report About the Bulls Hiring a Big-Time Agent as GM …https://t.co/ncwI2a7lo8

• Personally, I think someone like Brown, or the Mavericks’ Michael Finely, could be a perfect fit for this job. I touched on this a little earlier today, but hiring a person whose experience is very player-centric would be a wise approach. I think it’s safe to say the Bulls front office has never had a knack for attracting players. Free agency in the Windy City has been dismal, and the GarPax regime wasn’t the sexiest look. Karnisovas said he wants to hire someone who compliments his skill set yet offers something entirely different, and a former NBA player or agent could very well be the best type of person to meet those needs. At the end of the day, all I want (and all players want) is a likable and cool GM … is that too much to ask?
• Meanwhile, the Sun-Times Joe Cowley reminds us that the Bulls are planning to hire more than just a new GM.
By the way, there are some interesting names coming up for other front office spots. Could be quite the force when Karnisovas' Death Star is complete.

• EXCELLENT. Isn’t it so nice to have what you’re told is going to happen actually happen?
• Now, about that pesky Jim Boylen …
Word on a coaching decision? Just as quiet, but will stay that way until the NBA makes a decision on what to do with the season. Current coach Jim Boylen is staying in contact with his players and conducting business as usual. A source said his feeling is it's still his job.

• Karnisovas isn’t even waisting a breath on Boylen right now. While that might make the head coach think his future remains alive, I still can’t imagine he coaches another game at the United Center once the 2019-20 season concludes. Karnisovas’ hiring process for the GM gig has already proven thorough, and I’m sure we’ll see a similar formula for the other front-office positions. Focusing on the foundation first, especially with this current season not officially over yet, continues to make the most sense. Karnisovas will deal with Boylen when he has to. Until we have any kind of clue what the future of the NBA holds, the other stuff takes precedence.
• Steve Kerr opened up about Jordan feeding him a knuckle sandwich. Basically, Kerr took it like a boss and said “It builds character.”

• Bleacher Report picked the worst team ever for each franchise … can you guess what squad that was for the Bulls? Spoiler Alert: It was a Tim Floyd team. Yes, there was a darker time to be a Bulls fan than the last couple of seasons.
• Joakim Noah shed many tears as a child because of Michael Jordan.
